LHCRT was delighted to host BBC Radio WM’s live outside broadcast celebrating Staffordshire Day at its Tamworth Road base on Wednesday, 1 May. The producer, Adam Pinder-Smith (who is a Lichfield lad) had assembled notable people and organisations from those parts of Staffordshire that receive its broadcasts.
What a pity it wasn’t television, as James Leavesley as Vice-Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire and Ashley Brough, High Sheriff of Staffordshire gave the occasion the history and heritage of their offices by attending in full costume and carrying swords! They were greeted by the Mayor of Lichfield, David Leytham and the Mayoress. Only recently in to their offices, James and Ashley gave interesting insights into their roles and their commitment to Staffordshire.
The first hour of the programme also included interviews with Lichfield people: LHCRT’s Engineering Director, Peter Buck and one of its site leaders, Tony Cadwallader; interviews with Aaron and Jamie, students at Queen‘s Croft High School and their teacher, Callum Huckfield who volunteer weekly as part of a larger school group to do invaluable work for the Canal Trust.

for real work experience provided more interesting chat from several of its
Construction students and staff.
The second half of the programme brought in representatives of other
southern Staffordshire organisations: Cannock Chase Museum, Tamworth Music Festival, Lichfield Music Festival, and brought together Tamworth, S.Staffs and Cannock Sailing Clubs. And the sun shone and the rain held off! Quite right for a celebration of
Staffordshire Day!
